多くの人がこの技術には生理的に嫌悪感を抱くことと思います。　以下のように、Applied Digital Solutionsのトップが気持ち悪さ(creepiness）を認めています。

Scott R. Silverman, chairman and chief executive of Applied Digital, said the F.D.A.'s approval should help the company overcome "the creepy factor" of implanted tags and the suspicion it has stirred. ([1])

私自身の第一印象もそうでした。　しかし、下記に記載されているような、医療事故がなくなったり、コミュニケーションが不自由になった患者さん達の治療が効率的になる、といったメリットを考えて、少し許せる気持ちもでてきました。　（ただし、本当にこういう効果があるのであればです）

"In hospitals today, many deaths occur because people aren't able to communicate timely enough their medical information or because of wrong information," said Scott Silverman, the company's chief executive. "With VeriChip, you'll be able to have accurate information even if a patient can't talk. It's a way to modernize our antiquated system of medical records." ([2]より)

だけど、この技術の使用目的を医療外へ拡大させることを既に開発者達が計画していることを知って、だんだん怖くなりました。　ID認証に応用すれば、認証エラーのない究極の生体認証ができます。　既にこの話が計画されているようです。

VeriChip announced last week that it had signed a distribution agreement with a British company, Surge IT Solutions, which it said intended to use the technology to control access to government facilities. （中略）　"I've believed all along that the medical application was the best, followed by security and financial applications," Mr. Silverman said.　([1]より）

"That same scanner in a Wal-Mart that is used to bar code your goods can be used to identify you when you present your credit card to make sure someone hasn't stolen it and your identity," Silverman said. （[2]より）

一般の人からの強い反発が予見されるので、まず人道的にも受容されやすい医療への適用を最初のターゲットにして、その後はずるずると適用領域を拡大していこう、という計画のようです。　イノベーションの戦略としては正しいと思うのですが・・・　やっぱり怖いというか・・・気持ち悪いというか・・・・

皆さんの抵抗度をお聞かせください。　また、生体埋め込みRFIDが日本でも現実になったら、どんなアプリケーションを期待しますか？　アイディアをお聞かせ下さい。

（私がいろいろ想像してしまったこと）　　そのうち、implantable Felicaとかでたりして・・・　でも、僕は自分の体にモノを埋め込むのは嫌だから、QRコードを腕に印刷しようかな・・・　　アメリカがテロ対策で入国する人間にはチップを埋め込むとか実施したら怖いな・・・
